Low Carbon, Energy and Environment
Wales has a wide range and depth of activities in the fields of low carbon, energy and environment. These activities play an important role in the Welsh’s economy, with 40,000 people working in these sectors and contributing more than £3.2 billion to the economy annually.
The ecosystems across Wales form an important element of our approach to sustainable development. Businesses working on the energy programme and managing, monitoring and protecting the environment are an important cluster in Wales.
From its history, build on the heritage of heavy engineering, Wales is now committed to climate change adaptation. We have a real responsibility to be seen as a leader in low carbon technology, taking advantage of our abundance of natural resources.
To make it possible, the Welsh Government sets challenging targets as the Climate Change Strategy or Towards Zero Waste. These challenges are great drivers for the innovation, and allow Wales to promote a sustainable future and drive the low carbon, low waste economy.
